HOPE TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
HOPE TOWNSHIP FIRE HALL
JANUARY 8, 2008, 7:00PM

 

 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT:                               MIKE KRESSLER, SUPERVISOR

CALL TO ORDER:

            THE SUPERVISOR CALLED MEETING TO ORDER AT 7:00PM  BY LEADING THE PLEDGE TO THE FLAG.

 

BUSINESS FROM THE FLOOR:

            ED TUCKER AND R. MARTINEZ WERE PRESENT AND CONCERNED ABOUT THE DUMPSTER ON CASSIDAY DRIVE. THE DUMPSTER IS NOW BEING EMPTIED ON THE SAME DAY(MON.) AS THE REGULAR TRASH IS PICKED UP. THERE WAS CONCERN THAT THE PEOPLE USING THE DUMPSTER WAS PUTTING IN THEIR TRASH THE NEXT DAY AND ANIMALS COULD CARRY AWAY TRASH. SUPERVISOR IS GETTING A LARGER SIZED DUMPSTER THAT CANNOT BE MOVED AROUND ON ROAD.  RWS HAS NOTIFIED TOWNSHIP THAT IT IS THE  SUPERVISOR’S DECISION WHERE TO PLACE DUMPSTER.

 

CLERK’S MINUTES:

            THE MINUTES WERE DISPENSED EARLIER. IT WAS MOVED BY ELGIN TO APPROVE THE MINUTES AND SECONDED BY MIKE. MOTION CARRIED.

 

  TREASURER’S FINANCIAL REPORT:

            TREASURER’S REPORT HAD BEEN DISPERSED EARLIER.  IT WAS MOVED BY ELGIN AND SECONDED BY MIKE TO ACCEPT THE REPORT. MOTION CARRIED.

 

OUTSTANDING BILLS:

            A LIST OF THE BILLS WAS ALSO DISPENSED EARLIER. ELGIN MADE MOTION TO PAY BILLS AND JOE SECONDED IT. A ROLL CALL VOTE WAS POLLED-

DEPT. REPORTS:

 

FIRE DEPT:

            DECEMBER FIRE DEPT HAD 9 RUNS. 5 MEDICAL, 1 MUTUAL AID, A STRUCTURAL FIRE, AND 2 GOOD INTENTS. CHIEF HAS ORDERED 4 GAS DETECTORS. IT WILL HELP FIRE FIGHTERS WHEN THEY ARE ON CALL TO ALERT THEM IF THERE IS DANGEROUS GASES AROUND. THANK YOU TO MIKE KRESSLER AND BOB DAVIS FOR DOING PLUMBING JOB. CHIEF PURCHASED DVD FOR TRAINING. A NEW TV IS NEEDED TO USE FOR TRAINING IN FIRE HALL.  STAIRS NEEDS TO BE  INSTALLED ON NEW FIRE TRUCK. PETTY CASH IS LOW SO NEED $500.00 TO REPLENISH.  THE NEW FIRE TRUCK DID MAKE DARBY CALENDAR FOR 2008. THE LIGHT FROM TRUCK 920 WAS MOVED TO 950. JOE WILL FORWARD THE E-MAILS CONCERNING THE FIRE DEPT. TO  FIRE CHIEF’S AOL INTERNET E-MAIL. ELGIN MOVED TO PAY $500.00 FOR PETTY CASH. IT WAS SECONDED BY JOE AND MOTION CARRIED.  QUESTION OF WHO SHOULD GET NEW FIRE HALL KEYS?  FIRE DEPT. MEMBERS AND TOWNSHIP BOARD MEMBERS SUGGESTED.  THE GARAGE DOOR OPENERS ARE OLD AND DON’T WORK WELL. IT WILL BE CONSIDERED IN 2008-09 BUDGET.

 

PARK:

            NO JANUARY MEETING. FEBRUARY 5TH WILL BE NEXT MEETING. PARK COMMISSION WILL BE DISCUSSING NEW CARETAKER AT MEETING. THE MEETING WILL BE HELD AT  FIRE HALL.

 

PLANNING:

            NEXT MEETING WILL BE IN FEBRUARY.

 

WATER:

            NOTHING NEW. WATER BOARD WILL BE MEETING.

 

CHAPEL:

            NO MEETING. FURNACE WAS NOT RUNNING. MIKE KRESSLER HAD IT TAKEN CARE OF.

 

TOWNSHIP CODE AUTHORITY:

            MEETING WAS DECEMBER 17, 2007. DISCUSSED THE CODE AUTHORITY AUDIT. HOPE TWP. HAD 29 BUILDING PERMITS, 16 PLUMBING PERMITS, 25 MECHANICAL PERMITS, 20 ELECTRICAL PERMITS FOR 2007. NEXT MEETING WILL BE JAN. 28, 2008. THE ANNUAL MEETING DATES WILL BE POSTED AT TOWNHALL BULLETIN BOARD.

 

WIXOM LAKE IMPROVEMENT BOARD REPORT:

            NO MEETING

 

  ROAD ADVISORY COMMISSION:

            NEXT MEETING WILL BE FEBRUARY 28, 2008. THE ROAD FUND WAS $5000.00 SHORT FOR PAYING ROAD BILL FOR 2007. GENERAL FUND PAID THE $5000.00 AND WILL BE REIMBURSED AS 2008 TAX MONEY COMES IN.

 

  UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

            THE ASSESSOR’S BILL FOR CURTIS ROAD WAS TURNED INTO RON THOMPSON. HE TURNED IT OVER TO SUPERVISOR WHO PAID FOR BILL OUT OF HIS POCKET. DISCUSSION WAS HELD TO DECIDE WHO SHOULD PAY FOR THE BILL. THE QUESTION IS CAN THE BOARD SET A DECISION FOR WHO WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BILL. IT IS NOTED THAT THE PROPERTY OWNER CAN GO TO THE TAX TRIBUNAL FOR NO FEE.  JOE SUGGESTED THAT THE BOARD CONTACT THE OTHER BOARD MEMBERS FOR APPROVAL. MIKE WILL SUBMIT THE BILL AT NEXT MEETING.

 

  FLOOD INSURANCE:

            HOPE TWP. IS NOT MAPPED IN PRESENT  FEMA PLAN. HOPE TOWNSHIP DOES NOT HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLAN BUT IF HOMEOWNERS IN THE TOWNSHIP WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE FLOOD INSURANCE FOR THEIR MORTGAGE COMPANIES IF WOULD COST THEM EXTREMELY MORE THAN IF TOWNSHIP VOLUNTARILY WAS INVOLVED WITH FEMA. DISCUSSION WILL BE HELD AT NEXT MONTH’S MEETING.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

            CLERK WAS ASKED TO ORDER NEWSLETTERS CONCERNING PLANNING NEWS. THEY WILL BE GIVEN TO MIKE BRALEY, CHAIRPERSON OF PLANNING COMMISSION TO SEE IF THEY ARE OF ANY BENEFIT TO OUR PLANNING COMMISSION.
