CALL TO ORDER

The Supervisor called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

BUSINESS FROM FLOOR:
No business from floor, but discussion was held concerning Lori Childs doing cleanup on Bombay Road and Mike Kressler cleaning up Hope Road. Our thanks to both of them for making our township that much cleaner.
CLERK’S MINUTES:
Minutes were dispersed before meeting. Elgin moved and Bob seconded to approve minutes. Motion carried.
TREASURER’S REPORT:
Joe dispersed the report earlier. After discussion of finances, Bob moved to accept report, and Elgin seconded. Motion carried. Joe reported that 91% of taxes were collected by March 1, 2006.
Discussion was held on having the county collect personal property taxes. After March 1st everything is turned into the county, so would be more convenient for them. Hope Township has less than ten personal property tax collections. It was moved by Bob Davis and seconded by Elgin Childs, all yes----no nays

OUTSTANDING BILLS:

A list of the outstanding bills since last meeting was dispersed earlier. Joe moved to pay bills and Bob supported. A roll call vote was polled:

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Al Kloher from Circle K was present to discuss new fire truck. Cost of new fire truck will be $249,549.00. The old 1976
International pumper was taken in on trade. The length of new truck was brought down two foot to fit in the fire hall. The fire chief also had present two other bids for same truck and both were much higher. Will keep on file at fire hall.
A motion to purchase new fire truck from Darley Company was moved by Bob Davis. It was seconded by Joe Lunsford. A roll call vote was called:

Supervisor and Clerk will meet with Circle K representing Darley to sign purchase contract. Treasurer will check into best financing institute and report back to fire chief.

There were two runs in March. 78 man-hours were put in by Hope Township Fire Department. Discussed homeland security supplying thermo imaging cameras. Jim has received two new applicants for firemen. Larry Huckins and R. Wallace.

PARK COMMISSION:
Pat taylor is still working on grants for the park improvements. A 22cc 50 inch cut riding lawn mower has come up for sale at $1100.00. There is also a snow blower that park could sell as they would not be needing it. Joe Llunsford made motion to purchase said lawn mower from Bill Brushaber for $1100.00 and supported by Bob Davis. Clerk abstained from vote because of conflict of interest.
PLANNING COMMISSION:
Met April 5, 2006 and discussed items that should be reviewed. Will meet again May 3, 2006.
WATER DISTRIBUTION:
No contract with city yet. New line would have to be replaced before more water could be brought up to Hope and Edenville. All receiprients would help pay for water line.
COUNTY DRAINS:
Township's part will be $3,290.00 for Abbott, Ware and Clark Drains.
CHAPEL COMMITEE:
The furnance had to be repaired again. Wilbur Havens was present and will call person who put in furnance and see what his opinion is. Committee will meet around the first of June.
TOWNSHIP CODE AUTHORITY:

At the March 27, 2006 the board adopted the new budget. The office procedure manual will be reviewed to see what should be updated. Financial report - $16,853. In savings and $2135.00 in checking.

WIXOM LAKE IMPROVEMENT BOARD REPORT:

No meeting

ROAD ADVISORY COMMITTEE REPORT:

Next meeting will be April 27, 2006. E. Curtis Road, east of Middle Road should be put on road repair list. Needs to be repaired before all tarvey is gone.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

Fire Department Millage wording:

Concerning Fire Department Millage for August ballot, Elgin moved to have Joe prepare and turn in the ballot wording to County Clerk. Millage will be 1.75 mills same as before. Elgin moved and Bob supported. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

Bob moved to compensate Lori $50.00 plus a free night to use town hall for working on cleaning up some trash in township. Joe seconded and motion carried.

Charter Cable would like to know if township will renew their francise. Board sees no problem with it.

Spring district meeting is May 3 at Valley Plaza. Joe moved to pay expenses for board members who would like to attend. Bob seconded and motion carried. Mike, Bob and JoAnn plan on attending.

The old dishes in kitchen were discussed again. The consensus of board is to get rid of them however Lori sees fit.
